Message sent on the new Portuguese government platform is confused with approval of the attribution of nationality and causes a rush to registry offices
As the new website had to transfer all the content stored at the old address, applicants who check the progress online receive notifications of the completion of the processes.
These notifications of completion would be for the correct migration of data and not for the completion of the process and attribution of citizenship, told the Ministry of Justice to the media.
There are thousands waiting for completion for years. As soon as they saw the message of the supposed conclusion, applicants went to notary offices (notary offices) or consulted their lawyers.
Lawyer Caroline Campos told the column that she went to the registry office to check the processes that appeared to be completed, but the information was out of date.
— Total chaos. Several processes are listed as completed, but I went to the registry office to check and they were not. The site is unstable, it's not worth checking this week until the migration is complete — commented Campos.
She cites a process that was filed in October 2022 and has been frozen since then. Until the completion notification was sent, but it would be misleading and unrelated to the data transfer.
— It says it was approved and the record was created. It also doesn't appear as finished, after all. Either the system is not correct or the information appears wrong.
In the same process, the government informs that a notification of completion has been sent to the applicant's address. But the sending date shows signs of error in the system: 01/01/1900.
