Foreigners make up almost ten percent of the population, but they hardly vote. The lack of participation of immigrants in electoral processes is contributing to the growth of populist anti-immigration discourses in Portugal.
This is the conclusion of a study carried out by the Faculty of Economics of the University of Porto, which highlights that political parties do not pay attention to foreigners living in the country, because this does not bring them votes.
