Council of Ministers reinforces measures in the areas of AIMA, renewable energy, Social Security and hospital health. New appointments and investments also approved.
The Government approved this Thursday, May 29, a set of measures with a strong impact on public administration, immigration, energy and health, in a written deliberation carried out through the executive's computer network. Among the diplomas, the extension of the AIMA mission structure, new targets for renewables, and an investment of 10.9 million euros in the Social Security contact center stand out.
The Mission Structure for the Recovery of Backlogged Cases at AIMA (Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum) will see its activity extended until December 31, 2025 , after having successfully completed the resolution of more than 400,000 backlogged cases related to expressions of interest . With the initial mission accomplished, the structure will now focus on pending cases such as renewals of residence permits .
In the energy sector , a Decree-Law was approved establishing transitional targets for the integration of renewable sources , setting a target of 16% in industry and 29% in transport by 2030. This measure is part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP) and aims to facilitate adaptation to the future transposition of European directives, with a focus on renewable hydrogen.
Another of the approved diplomas is a Resolution that authorizes the Social Security Institute to invest 10.9 million euros in operational management services for the Contact Center , over a period of 36 months. This infrastructure has been essential in communicating with citizens and companies , keeping up with the increase in demand for non-face-to-face channels .
A Decree-Law was also approved transposing a European directive on extraction solvents , specifically 2-methyloxolane , updating the rules on the use of these components in food manufacturing, as well as the designation of the official services responsible for controls.
The executive also made possible a Decree-Law that allows the accumulation of functions by the executive directors of Banco Português de Fomento (BPF) who are elected to the board of directors of SOFID, until the conclusion of the process of integration of the latter into BPF, scheduled for after June 30, 2025 .
Finally, the Council of Ministers appointed Elisabete Maria da Costa e Silva Santos as executive member with clinical management functions for hospital care at the Viseu Dão-Lafões Local Health Unit, EPE, reinforcing the management structure in the National Health Service.
