Lisbon: companies cancel 65 flights and cause inconvenience to passengers

Those arriving at Lisbon Airport this Saturday (2) will find several queues at airline counters, in the aisles and in the boarding areas. Passengers wait for hours standing, sitting on the floor or in trolleys for travel information. The companies canceled 65 flights today: 40 arrivals and 25 departures, according to Ana Aeroportos, which manages the place.

The airport management justifies the situation by problems in other European air terminals, but without mentioning which ones exactly. In addition, cancellations have been registered since Friday (1st) in the late afternoon, when the runway in Lisbon was closed for another hour, after damage to a private plane.

passengers heard bynow europecomplain about the lack of information about cancellations and the uncertainty about being able to continue their trip this Saturday (2). This is the case of physical therapist Gabriela Silvini, who had two flights to Recife canceled in less than 24 hours:

“The first one, yesterday (1st) night, I was in line for hours to get a voucher for the hotel and I only got it because they gave priority to those with children”, says the passenger with her two children, who just delivered the apartment in Cascais to stay a year in Brazil.

This Saturday, the trip, which was rescheduled for 8 pm, was canceled again, without warning: “I only saw it because I entered the TAP app”, explained the Brazilian, who has been in line for hours in search of a new hotel voucher, not knowing when you will be able to board.

The Brazilian Fabiana Matos, who lives in Italy and made a stopover in Lisbon to Recife, had the same flight canceled on Friday (1st). Today, (2), the immigrant received a new ticket, with a date for the 5th of July: “They rescheduled without notifying me, I need to travel before, I'm going to miss many days of vacation”, laments the traveler.

Those who go to European countries also face problems. Maria Roseli Mello Fontinelli, who were looking forward to their first international trip after the Covid-19 pandemic, does not know when she will be able to board: “My 3:30 pm flight was canceled and I was not notified, I only saw it when I went through the boarding gate and an 'x' appeared. Now I've been in line for more than two hours to find out when I'll be able to travel”, says the tourist who has an itinerary in several Italian cities for the next few days.
