President of the Republic promulgates increase in the minimum wage to 820 euros in 2024

This is "the largest increase in the minimum guaranteed monthly salary ever seen", says the statement.

The President of the Republic promulgated this Friday the increase in the national minimum wage from the current 760 euros to 820 euros from January 2024, a decree approved on Thursday by the Government, a source from Belém told Lusa. "The President of the

Republic This Friday, the Government promulgated the diploma that increases the national minimum wage", reads a note, with just one sentence, published on the official website of the Presidency of the Republic on the Internet.

This promulgation takes place in a context of political crisis, in which the Prime Minister submitted his resignation on Tuesday, which was accepted by the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, but has not yet been made official in the Diário da República, at which point the Government will be limited to management acts.

In his communication to the country on Thursday, the head of state informed that he will postpone the Government's resignation process to allow the approval and entry into force of the State Budget proposal for 2024, which has a final global vote scheduled for November 29th.

The update of the national minimum wage is set by Government decree, after consultation with social partners.

The value of 820 euros for next year is included in the agreement signed in October as part of social consultation between the Government and social partners, with the exception of CGTP and CIP -- Confederação Empresarial de Portugal, which were left out.
