Criminal complaint against Chega figures on its way to the Attorney General's Office

The criminal complaint against three members of Chega could reach the Attorney General's Office as early as Monday. The timing of the submission of tens of thousands of signatures depends on the agenda of the Attorney General, Amadeu Guerra. The party leader, André Ventura, the parliamentary leader, Pedro Pinto, and the advisor Ricardo Reis are accused, in this action, of instigating the commission of a crime, defending the commission of a crime and inciting collective disobedience.

Police report two buses and seven vehicles set on fire in Lisbon

Two buses and seven vehicles were set on fire, in total, overnight, in various areas of the Lisbon Metropolitan Area, a police source told Lusa today.

Immigrants pay much more than they receive: Social Security collected 1.8 billion euros until August alone

Foreigners living in Portugal contributed more than they received from Social Security . In the first eight months of this year, the immigrant community paid contributions of more than 2 billion euros, a new historical high. The amount received was only 380 million euros.

This is a positive balance of more than 1.8 billion euros . Since 2021, contributions from immigrants in Portugal have been increasing .

Chega's proposal for a referendum on immigration rejected with votes against from all other parties

 It was a foretold outcome, since when the project was debated on Wednesday, the parties spoke out against it and harshly criticized Chega's proposal.

Chega's initiative to hold a referendum on the introduction of quotas for the entry of immigrants into the country was rejected this Friday, with all parties voting against, with the exception of the proponent.
